"A graceful, alert, swift-moving compact little dog with saucy expression, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament." ~ Breed Standard

The Fifth Element Kennel. Owned by Amanda and Eric Wells. Breeding AKC registered, quality companion Chihuahuas.

All of our girls are a part of the family and kept in the house. Many sleep with us. Several of our girls are guardian dogs from our mentor in Utah and most sires currently belong to them. Although our mentor shows and titles many of their dogs, we are focused on producing quality companions first and foremost.

Our breeding goals are Chihuahuas that look like Chihuahuas, in all colors and markings but in particular amazing temperaments, good health and longevity. Especially where I am just starting on my breeding journey and in particular longevity is a long term goal, I am looking for owners for my puppies that are eager to help me with updates on health and temperaments of their dogs throughout their lives, to help refine my breeding program and work towards those goals. Owner feedback will be essential.

I enjoy building relationships with my dogs through non competitive obedience training and since we have some absolutely amazing dog trainers in our local area, I am usually in classes with 1-3 of my dogs several days a week, most weeks. It also gives me a more controlled way to socialize them and evaluate their temperaments that would be difficult to create on my own.

Look around and check us out. Feel free to contact me with any questions, I'd love to chat! Also check out our Facebook page, click the Facebook icon at the bottom of the page to be taken there. This website is best for static information like dog profiles, pedigrees, etc but daily life updates are posted on Facebook and is the best way to stay up to date with our program.

We do breed Merles and can offer from lines with and without Merle. All the dogs we own are DNA tested and many are OFA CHIC tested, though that is slower going as we have few opportunities each year to get all of the tests and it's not yet something many other breeders do, so most of our outside studs are currently not OFA tested.

I love genetics and am continuing to improve my knowledge of canine genetics. There has been many breakthroughs in understanding Merle in the last 15+ years that are facsinating. This is a great Facebook group for the most up to date Merle information.
