Terms and FAQs.

Our prices range between $1,500 to $3,500 and is determined by the stud contract and terms for each pairing. We have a few studs of our own but use many outside studs that can vary quite a bit in price and terms to use.

All puppies within a litter are generally the same price.

Puppies too young to leave yet and older than 3 weeks can be held.

A non refundable hold fee of $250 is required to hold your choice of pup. Hold fee can be transferred to a different, open puppy within the litter or to a different litter if circumstances change. Only in the event that the held puppy fails their wellness visit or is otherwise not available when the time comes, may the choice be made for a refund or to rollover to a different litter.

Size.

I cannot guarantee size. I can give an educated guess on individual puppies but that should not be construed as a guarantee. Different pairings tend to produce different sizes but my average mature size for puppies is 5-6lbs. I have produced some as small as 3.5 lbs and as large as 9.5 lbs, 5.5 lbs is the most likely by the averages. I prefer Chihuahuas with some decent substance and good bone density, so extra tiny are rare, not aimed for and unlikely to be sold, except very carefully, as they tend to be extra fragile. If you are looking for a "micro" or "teacup" Chihuahua, I'm not likely to be the right breeder for you.

What Puppy Comes With

All puppies will have a wellness vet visit, first shots, deworming and microchipped at the time of going home. Older puppies will have additional vaccines as appropriate for their ages and vet recommendation. Puppies come with papers. Most are on limited registration but breeding or showing rights can be discussed on a case by case basis. Because of many outside studs and some guardian contracts, sometimes it can take us awhile to actually receive the papers ourselves and they may need to be shipped separately but ideally they should be included in their puppy go home packs.

Go home packs also include a blanket and toy with dam's scent, a sample of the food they are currently eating to be used to transion, a bag of the various treats and chews we use, a clicker for training and a variety of other goodies that can vary some.

The chips we use are the Fi Nano. They are free to register but can usually be registered to most other services if there is a different preference. We are retained on the chip info as the breeder, so there is a backup contact to the owner and if the owner forgets to register the chip, there is still a contact listed. We cannot be removed from the chip. However, after the buyer registers the chip and I approve the transfer, I have no more access to the chip and can see none of the buyers' information, so privacy is protected if desired. However, AKC does require that a breeder maintain a Litter Report for each litter produced that includes the name, address, phone number and email of those who bought each puppy in that litter. I will ask for that info for my AKC required records, so please be willing to provide it.

Continuing Contact

I love being updated on how our puppies are doing and it's very helpful for my breeding goals! Feel free to email, call or text me updates or message through our Facebook page. I also have a Facebook group for our puppy owners to share their dogs, etc.

Need to Rehome

Sometimes life happens, no judgment here! If for some reason someone can no longer keep their dog/puppy, we request to be contacted first. We are willing to take back a dog at any point or to help with the rehoming process if that seems in the best interest of the dog. We just want our dogs and people to get what they need and don't wish to lose contact with those who own the dogs we produce.

Puppy Raising Protocols

I use a mix of Avidog and Puppy Culture as the basis for raising and socializing puppies. Unfortunately we are in a high risk parvo area, so we don't get to do quite as much off site activities as I would like. Puppies are raised around other dogs, one a light framed 29 lb Border Collie cross, so used to somewhat bigger dogs, and around cats. We don't have children of our own but do host foreign exchange students fairly often. Not all litters have that advantage but those that do are exposed to many teenagers, often of different ethnicities and languages.

Food/Feeding

We feed a wide variety of foods and don't recommend any especially. The majority of what we feed are pre-mixes, Dr Harvey's, Grandma Lucy's and the Honest Kitchen. They are completed with oils, coconut and salmon oils generally, a small amount of friut and a rotation of human grade proteins, turkey, chicken, pork, beef and eggs.

We also feed kibble, although that makes up somewhere around 5% to 20% of their diets. We do enrichment games and training with kibble, pregnant and lactating females get more and puppies are introduced to it and made sure they are eating it well, as most owners usually want to feed kibble. We rotate through a number of brands, 4Health, Nurtro, Purina Pro Plan, Royal Canin, Victor and Acana are the most common.
